Unfortunately you are right. Working with toxic people is likely inevitable unless you WFH. Imagine working at a family business with a toxic brother lol. I had that experience for years which is one reason my brother is now estranged (one of many reasons).

I feel you. I have similar experiences with another family member.

Even WFH (which I do) brings different challenges with such people. I need to set and manage boundaries effectively.

They come in all shapes and sizes, and hold many different positions in many companies. Some are very subtle and quiet. Years ago, on one of the IT teams I was on at Fortune 500 company, we had a team member who just phoned it in. He had worked in almost every department and been pushed out, and we were stuck with him. We put him in the corner and made him the "documentation guy" but every now and then, he'd make his way into the server room and destroy something important.
